In Costa Rica, learn the skills you need to work in animal medicine as well as gaining exposure to different fields related to veterinary medicine. Work with wildlife in a national park, preparing surgeries and examinations. Monitor the behavior of bats, monkeys and iguanas and participate in group discussion and lectures on different practices and techniques. Become familiar with the equine side of veterinary medicine, and gain a new perspective on large animal care, even work in a short horseback ride through the lush terrain!
Experience a well rounded view of large animal care while visiting beef and dairy farms. Work with vets to diagnose cows and bulls, then get a glimpse of the production industry related to them. While some of this trip takes place in a classroom setting, most of your summer will be set out in the field, in the clinics and farms of a beautiful, Central American country. Explore the world and learn more about your chosen field while gaining community service and real-world experience you won’t find anywhere else.
