VetCAMP is a five day summer camp program that offers an opportunity for High School students interested in the field of veterinary medicine. It is hosted by North Carolina State University’s very own VetPAC. The camp is designed for students who are interested in becoming veterinary healthcare professionals and provides a preview into the real and vast fields of veterinary medicine. Through presentations, demonstrations, laboratories, visits, and in-depth, hands-on activities students will discover what modern veterinary medicine is all about.
VetCAMP offers a wide range of experiences for those who are in high school and looking to pursue a career in the rewarding field of veterinary medicine. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with other students who have a similar passion and begin forging future relationships with those who care about science and animal medicine. VetCAMP offers various sessions designed to meet different educational and developmental levels, and VetCAMP will challenge and stimulate all attendees in innovative, fun and exciting ways. Various experiences include but are not limited to learning how to restrain sheep and dissecting various organic structures in wet labs following anatomical lectures. Tips and tricks will be provided for those who are looking to develop a strong application for when the time to apply to vet school arrives. VetCAMP is a great way to additionally develop leadership skills and network within North Carolina State University’s extensive veterinary and pre-vet faculty and students, learning from a wide array of past experiences how to best gain experience and make the most of your time pursuing veterinary medicine. Various trips will be taken during VetCAMP including visits to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences and the Piedmont Wildlife Center. Attendees will gain both valuable class-based and activity-based animal experience should they attend VetCAMP this coming summer.
