Dogged Determination

Hi, I'm new to this website and I wanted to share my story of wanting to become a veterinarian.

All I've wanted to be since I was 8 was a veterinarian. I think this idea of becoming one sprouted from the fact that I was never allowed to have a dog or a cat. My parents have always been afraid of animals and I was always jealous of my friends who had them. So I started thinking of a job where I would be around animals almost 24/7. Why not become a veterinarian?

I was young back then, but now that I'm 14, I can expand my horizons and start working at my local animal shelter and shadowing local veterinarians. All my childhood, I've never gotten to fully experience my love for animals. My parents kept pushing me towards a career in human medicine, no one in my family has ever been a veterinarian, and the only pet I've really had was a guinea pig. But what I got from this was that if you keep believing in yourself and waiting for the day you get to be something bigger, you'll eventually end up with your dreams. I learned this by continuing to pursue my dreams of becoming a veterinarian. And now I know that my perseverance has paid off.
