Hello, my name is Bailey and I am 13 years old. I want to be a companion animal practitioner in veterinary medicine or a zoo vet. There aren’t many places in my state (Idaho, Boise area) that allow kids my age to volunteer or do jobs that help with animal experience. I am also interested in gaining experience with animals like birds and rabbits. Do you have any recommendations for where/how I can get experience/volunteer with more animals? Thank you!

Bailey - The best place for you to start is your local veterinary clinic. See if they will let you shadow for the day. In the next few weeks, we will post an on-line course on how to get a shadowing opportunity. Also, since you like zoo medicine, keep watching ZooBoise to see if they have any zoo camps this summer.
