Hello Mia! What a great question. I will write more on this but here are two things you should doing:
Do you have pets at home. You and your brother should ask your Mom/Dad what you can do to help care for them. Can you be the one that feeds them, takes them on walks, brushing them or gives them their medications? Taking care of your own pets is the best way to start getting animal experience.
The other is start preparing NOW for a summer of opportunity. Do you want to go to a zoo camp? See if Oregon zoo has opened camps for the summer. Are you in middle school, reach out to the camps in other states that will be open this summer:

Finally, in this time when you are in your home – READ. And, if you want my opinion, start with the book I wrote just for students like you and your brother. You can find it here: https://www.vetsetgo.com/products/vet-set-go-hardcover-book It has six chapters on ideas on how you can get animal experience. Read it and start planning for summer now!!!

here's my suggestion, you could really help animals at shelters by doing a fund raiser I did one and got 70$ dollars and 100 items it was fun! :) ;)
