Giving Thanks

When I am out filming at veterinary clinics and interviewing veterinarians, I sometimes ask if they ever had one case or moment in practice that made them say “This is why I became a veterinarian”.

I have heard some great answers over the years and one of my favorites is this one from Dr. Ben Parker at Coastal Veterinary Clinic in Bluffton, South Carolina. What makes this story especially great is that the case Dr. Parker describes is a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation case. This is not a case where he received any compensation. This was a case where he was volunteering both his time and his clinic resources to help a red tailed hawk in the South Carolina low country.

You can see more from Coastal Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Parker at the “Meet a Companion Animal Veterinarian” and “Every Day is Different” pages of this website.
