Worked on a Farm

Jun 19, 2017 10:06AM

“I want to become a veterinarian because it has been my dream job since I can remember. I have had animal experience my whole life I own many different kinds. I worked on my uncle's farm also. I have done a lot to help animals, I'm I volunteer at my get center in my town. I have pulled calves, banded, vaccinated, spayed, neutered, did a C-sections on a cow not that long ago, semen tested bulls pretty much everything and dental. When I work at the vet clinic I ask questions and I have learned a lot from her. I know a lot of the anatomy of any basic animal. To learn more about veterinarians I have asked questions to my vet when I work and have done my research. I have been working at my vet clinic for 4 years now. I also pulled my own baby goats.”

This is an excerpt from story and photograph that were submitted by Avery from South Dakota as part of her entry to the 2017 Become a Veterinarian Camp Contest. We were amazed at the passion our entrants had towards animals and all that they were doing to explore their dream of becoming a veterinarian. We wanted to share these powerful stories with everyone.

We hope that this story and all of the stories posted here in the Community section of Vet Set Go help to motivate everyone to continue to explore their dreams. You will become a veterinarian if you just get out there.
